This patio space had existing retaining beds, a mature Japanese maple canopy, and a large skimmia japonica hedge. Working with the resident, we selected an additional Japanese maple, and perennials for underneath, plus two specimen trees for containers. Topped up with black mulch throughout, the plants pop serenely.
